OBJECTS
The objects of the association are—
(a) To broaden the scope of member clubs in their activities by
combining together as a Council.
(b) To promote the development of horticultural knowledge and
interests among member clubs and the wider community.
(c) To promote the enjoyment of gardening and friendship among member
clubs.
(d)
To
encourage an understanding of conservation of our national and natural
heritage.
(e)
To
participate in community events and projects that contribute to the
beautification of our natural and built environment through enhancements
to public parks, gardens, and like facilities
MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
Queensland Council of Garden Clubs Inc (QCGC) is managed by a committee
which meets monthly. Committee members are members of the member clubs
and are elected at the AGM. A monthly general meeting is for
delegates from member clubs to obtain information about events and the
results of committee discussions. It also provides the opportunity for
clubs to give feedback to the management committee.
GARDEN CLUBS AMBASSADOR
The Garden Clubs Ambassador visits member clubs giving details of events
and items of interest and acts as a liaison with the Management
Committee. The Ambassador is selected by a panel of 3 judges from
persons nominated by their club. The person holds the position for one
year.

Member clubs are kept informed about news, shows, events,
policies, issues etc through the quarterly Newsletter.

A complete list of member clubs with contact details and meeting
times and places. |

Club Management |
Information on aspects of running a club - meeting procedure,
duties of office bearers etc. |

Insurance |
Insurance cover through a group insurance scheme. |

Social Occasions |
Social functions and competitions to encourage friendship
between clubs. |

Guest Speakers |
Suggestions for guest speakers. |
|
Bus Trips |
Suggestions for destinations, nurseries and other places of
interest for organising bus trips. |
|
Special Occasions |
Opportunities for members to participate in festivals, community
events and horticultural shows, e.g. RNA show, Newstead House,
Nambour Garden Expo. |

Telephone Listing |
Through the listing in the White Pages (Queensland Council of
Garden Clubs) and Yellow Pages (Clubs Gardening - Queensland
Council of Garden Clubs) members of the public can get
information on clubs in their area and suggestions about
gardening. |

Conservation
|
The Conservation Officer gathers information of interest about
conservation and related matters and reports to the members at
the general meeting and in the Newsletter. |
|
Government & Other Bodies
|
QCGC is a member of the Centre for Lifestyle Horticulture
and has a close association with Australia’s Open Garden
Scheme and other horticultural groups.
